Look for
fake grades

With the advent of Board of Health officials compelling restaurants to post sanitary letter grades in their windows, it has been reported that some businesses have posted bogus letter grades.

Fines for eateries posting fake letter grades could reach $1,000.

Real letter grades are posted in a window to be seen by street traffic and printed on card stock, not just paper.

They also feature an official Health Department seal, serial number and the name of the inspector who issued the grade.
