Full barFinding decent Asian cuisine in this city is a lot like searching for a needle in a pile of needles; just pick one and you should be satisfied.

On the other hand, if you crave an extraordinary meal you cannot go wrong with the tastier pastures of Tung Shing House in Rego Park.

Founded in 1971 and in its current location since 1983, Tung Shing House offers its guests a journey through treasured Asian cuisines ranging from the reliable Beef with Broccoli, to the adventurous Drunken Pig’s Feet.

Their appetizer list consists of many Chinese restaurant favorites, including barbeque spare ribs. Available in six or nine pieces, the ribs are glazed in a sweet and tangy sauce, and pull easily from the bone.

Add some steam to your meal with Tung Shing’s dim sum dumpling offerings. Brought to your table in steamer baskets, the dumplings are filled with pork, shrimp, veggies or soup.

The most surprising of the dim sum fare are the vegetarian and soup dumplings. The veggie dumpling, with its requisite green casing, is filled with a spinach and mushroom mélange that acts as a pleasant alternative to the palatable pods of pork-flavored delights.

However, man cannot survive on veggies alone, that is why Pork Soup Dumplings are a must at Tung Shing. These delicate pouches of pork and broth arrive piping hot in a bamboo basket. The preferred method of consumption is as follows: using a pair of tongs, place the plump dumpling on a soup spoon, bite off a little piece of the doughy wrapper, slurp out the broth and then eat the pork meatball and noodle wonton.

For your entrée, consider the House Special Prawns with Walnuts. These jumbo-sized shrimp are served in a creamy mayonnaise sauce that is the absolute perfect pairing with the fresh prawns and the crunch of the walnuts.

If you are in search of a beef option Tung Shing has just the dish for you. The filet mignon with black peppercorn sauce satisfies your cravings in two ways. First, the tender and juicy bite of the meat sends your carnivore spirit back to its hunter/gatherer beginnings. Next, the meat bites back as the peppercorns make their presence known, giving you yet another reason to go back for seconds.

For true imperial flavor, order Tung Shing’s famous Peking roast duck, prized for its thin, crackly skin. This authentic dish is sliced right in front of you by a master chef, giving you time to salivate over the unctuous waterfowl.

Tung Shing House also boasts a venerable Japanese menu with appetizers, sushi, sashimi, hand rolls, special rolls, entrees and sushi platters.

The House is also available to host your next special occasion and can reserve seating for up to 200 people – and they offer on or off site catering. Contact them for special event menus and packages.

Instead of choosing just any Asian restaurant in Queens, choose the one with over 35 years of mouthwatering and aesthetically inspiring cuisine – choose Tung Shing House.
