Glen Oaks LL opens

Dozens of kids marched in the Glen Oaks Little League Parade on Saturday, April 5, marking the start of the league’s season.
Before the procession, State Senator Frank Padavan and Assemblymember Mark Weprin tossed out the opening pitches to members of their respectively sponsored teams. Glen Oaks Little League President Steve Teitlebaum also spoke, thanking parents and sponsors and wishing players a successful season.
The Hunan Caf/ A’s (top) posed for a picture during the parade route on Union Turnpike, and six-year-old Elizabeth Littwin (front, center) led her team, the Dime Savings Realty Rockies. The Rockies alternated chants between their own team and the Bronx-based New York Yankees.
Players from KB Transmissions Padres (bottom) kept the mood lively as they made the trip from Tenney Park, down to Union Turnpike, up Little Neck Parkway and back to Tenney, located at 74th Avenue and 260th Street, where kids feasted on hot dogs and ran off some energy.
