Ozone Park woman arrested after disappearing for a day with her child & grandchild

Police have arrested an Ozone Park woman who took her child and grandchild and went missing for a day.

On Tuesday, Nov. 8, officers responded to a missing persons report within the confines of the 106th Precinct. Rosa Tapia, 51, was reported missing with her 6-year-old son Anthony Tapia and 3-year-old grandson Aaron Ledesma. They were last seen at 9 a.m. on 161st Street and Jamaica Avenue.

According to police, on Wednesday, Nov.9,  Tapia was found with the two children at a friend’s home in Queens. It is unknown at this time why Tapia took off with the children.

She was charged with two counts of acting in a manner injurious to a child under the age of 17 and one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
