Quantcast

A shining example

Much has been written about Police Officer Larry DePrimo, the 25-year-old who, while on patrol, reached into his own pocket to purchase socks and boots for a homeless man in Times Square. He even went so far as to put them on the man himself.

His act of kindness was immortalized in photos by Jennifer Foster, in from Florence, Arizona.

It then went viral on the NYPD’s Facebook page and scored more than half a million “likes.”

And though DePrimo is certainly a shining example of humanity, humility and kindness, we agree with Mayor Michael Bloomberg when he said, “The truth of the matter is cops every day do things that help people. That’s what they’re there for.”

Sandy showed us this, with NYPD, FDNY, EMS and scores of others bravely giving of themselves to help those in need.

So let us take a page from Officer DePrimo’s book, especially during the holiday season, and try to put others first.
