Author and holistic health leader holds lecture

A former Flushing resident will be sharing her philosophies as a holistic health counselor in Bayside on Wednesday, June 21, at 7:30 p.m.
Andrea Beaman will be speaking at The Spine and Soul Yoga & Pilates Studio to discuss her philosophy of “better food, better health.” She grew up barely remembering her Flushing H.S. days because they were fogged over by drugs and alcohol. “I was experimenting with my physical body,” Andrea honestly shared, not facing the stuff going on in my life.” When her mom was diagnosed with cancer she realized “I needed to be there for my mom.”
“I decided to take control over my body,” she bluntly stated. “I tried every diet since I was 13, but was never successful. I was on a yo-yo ride, never comfortable in my body and always sick. When I finally focused on my health, my weight came down and has been that way for ten years.”
Andrea has written two books, “The Whole Truth — Eating & Recipe Guide” and “The Whole Truth — How I Reclaimed My Life And You Can Too.” She will share her philosophy on healthy living and eating.
She has been chosen to be on the Bravo network’s chef competition. She gives cooking classes, using natural foods and guides people to a healthier life.
Ms. Beaman is a big believer in eating food that is natural and seasonal. Buying at local farmer’s markets helps you choose the right food. The website, www.localharveest.org, can help you locate the sites of the markets in your neighborhood.
