‘Boulevard of Death’ claims another life

A 76-year-old man died on the “Boulevard of Death” on Friday, August 6.

According to police, at the corner of Queens Boulevard and 80th Road, the victim Richard Borchers, 76, was struck as he attempted to cross the street by a marked Correction Department car traveling southbound on Queens Boulevard.

The vehicle remained on the scene and Borchers was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No criminality is suspected. It is unclear if Borchers was crossing with the light.
