<b>Little League</b>
The Bayside Travel Team closed out their regular season with a perfect 9-0 record after defeating Forest Hills and the DAC Marksmen on August 8 and 10, respectively.
The 8-year-olds unleashed an offensive onslaught in both games, clobbering their opponents by the combined score of 28-11 and sending them into the playoffs firing on all cylinders.
Starting pitchers Nicholas Perez and John Callahan won the last two contests, with Aiden Ciarniello and Christopher Rouzinos pitching shut down ball out of the pen. As for offense, it’s been coming from across the diamond for Bayside; Dominick Damiano, Regan Goger, John DeCastro and Savvas Papadopoulos are just a few of the Baysiders that are providing the heavy hits.
It’s on to the playoffs where paying attention to the fundamentals really starts to pay off.

Interested in some fall baseball? The Queens Alliance and the Ridgewood-Glendale-Middle Village-Maspeth (RGMVM) Little League are now taking registrations for the upcoming fall baseball season. The league is open to all players in 12 to 18 and over divisions. The season begins in September and ends in late November. If interested, call 718-366-7717 or 718-821-4487 for more information.
<b>Youth Football</b>
The school of hard knocks is about to kick off as Rosedale Jets Football will transport 200 young men to the mountains of Brookwood Camps in Glenn Spey, New York on Thursday, August 19.
“Although we will be conducting a four-day football camp in the mountains to prepare our teams for the upcoming 2010 football season, our primary focus is to prepare our youth for the game of life by instilling character values such as scholarship, integrity, loyalty, citizenship and sportsmanship,” said Jacque M. Leandre, President of Rosedale Jets Football.
During the camp, the players will start their day at 5:30 a.m. and engage in various athletic, academic and cultural activities throughout the days and late evenings.
Local residents, community leaders and elected officials will be on hand to send off the Jets from Brookville Park in Springfield Gardens.
