Catholic Schools week theme: ‘A+ for America’

The National Catholic Educational Association announced that the theme for this year’s Catholic Schools Week is “A+ for America.”
The week is celebrated in the last week of January, with schools holding events for students, faculty and for the general public as well. This year, it will begin on January 30 and end on February 5. During this time, parents of prospective students can visit and tour schools during their open house hours.

Divine Wisdom Catholic Academy
Divine Wisdom Catholic Academy in Douglaston will be hosting an open house on Sunday, January 30, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for interested parents and families. One can also call the school to schedule an appointment and tour the school at 718-631-3153. The school is located at 45-11 245th Street.

Sacred Heart School
Sacred Heart School in Bayside will open its doors to prospective parents and students on Sunday, January 30, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Monday, January 31, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. The school is located at 216-01 38th Avenue.

Immaculate Conception
Immaculate Conception School in Astoria will host an open house from Monday, January 31, to Friday, February 4, each day from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
On Friday, February 4, the fifth grade class will showcase their science exhibits in the school gym from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with their experiments.
Then, on Saturday, February 5, faculty and students alike will demonstrate hands-on experiments for their Family Science Night taking place from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
The school is located on 21-63 29th Street.

St. Helen’s School
St. Helen’s School is holding its open house on Tuesday, February 1, from 9 to 11:15 a.m. The school is located at 83-09 157th Avenue in Howard Beach.

Divine Mercy Catholic Academy
Divine Mercy Catholic Academy in Ozone Park is having an open house on Sunday, January 30, from noon to 1 p.m. The school is located at 101-60 92nd Street.

St. Sebastian School
St. Sebastian School in Woodside will host open house days on Tuesday, February 1, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. and on Thursday, February 3, from 10 to 11 a.m. The school is found at 39-76 58th Street.
