Friedman, Schneps to be honored at Town Hall

Jack Friedman, executive director of the Queens Chamber of Commerce, and Joshua Schneps, co-publisher of The Queens Courier, will be honored at the Community Business Partnership Council of the Samuel Field Y/Central Queens Y Breakfast on April 5 at Flushing Town Hall.

Steven Goodman, executive vice president and CEO of the Samuel Field Y, said their selection was based on their history of bringing not-for-profit and for-profit businesses together to benefit the community.

Friedman, an advocate of the Samuel Field Y for over 20 years and graduate of Bayside High School, worked closely with the Samuel Field Y during his time with the Northeast Queens Jewish Community Council. He was instrumental in the Y receiving large City Council grants for development and support of their Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NORC) programs.

“[Friedman] has given himself freely and openly to advocate and participate in communal life,” said Goodman. “He has always been innovative and has an outstanding resume.”

Schneps, co-owner of Schneps Communications – the largest publisher of newspapers and magazines in the borough of Queens – will receive a leadership award for media and communication for what Goodman calls his “strategic vision” and encouraging impact on the public at large.

“Since he’s been [at The Queens Courier], we can see major positives that are great for the community whether it’s sticking up for those without a media presence or paying attention to the new and evolving cultural community,” said Goodman.

The Samuel Field Y, known as “The Everybody Place,” is a not-for-profit, multi-service, multi-site community based organization that provides a diverse array of programs and services to over 40,000 residents of Queens and Western Nassau Counties.
