Bayside Little League Major Division Champions

The Katie-Den team captured the 2011 major division title on Monday night against
Prava Stone, the only team to defeat Katie-Den this season. The champs won 13 games in the regular season before playoffs began and beat Portofino to advance to the second round of the playoffs. They moved on to defeat the 3D’s team, setting up a showdown with Prava Stone. Katie-Den grabbed the lead in the first inning, only to have Prava come back and tie the score in the third. But Katie-Den’s big bats came through the rest of the way, taking the lead and never looking back. Katie-Den won the game, 7-3, and are now the Major Division Champions in the Bayside Little League. The victory didn’t come easily according to Coach Jerry Costa who said, “It took 27 practices to make this team a championship team.”
