Colleges closed as Irene batters borough

The following institutions have posted storm-related closures:

Queens College and Queensborough Community College Will Be Closed and Classes Cancelled On Sunday, August 28
College officials don’t know if there will be power outages and other disruptions that might lead to the college being closed and classes cancelled again on Monday, August 29. They will make the decision about Monday later in the weekend based on weather conditions, public transportation and other factors.
Messages will be prominently posted under News and Announcements on the college’s homepage, www.qc.cuny.edu
 
 
York College closed
With hurricane Irene approaching, the University has cancelled all classes and activities scheduled for Sunday. The college will reopen on Monday, August 29. Additional updates will be posted as they become available on the York College website at https://www.york.cuny.edu/ or may be obtained from the Office of Public Safety at (718) 262- 2222.
 
 
No St. John’s campuses open
All St. John’s University campuses will be closed on Sunday, August 28, and all activities and events have been cancelled for Sunday. The University has an emergency plan in place that is committed to the safety and security of our students, faculty, administration and staff.
