Brooklyn mom Dalisha Adams charged with abandoning her two daughters on street
A Brooklyn mother has been busted for abandoning two of her daughters on a sidewalk — leaving them alone hours after she gave them a curse-filled tongue-lashing, cops and neighbors said. Dalisha Adams, 26, was charged Monday with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child for cruelly leaving Dominae, 5, and Diani, 3, in the cold, police said. A neighbor of Adams at the Breukelen Houses in Canarsie said she often heard the mom screaming at the girls and their older sister, who lives with an aunt. Read More: Daily News
21-year-old woman falls to her death from luxury high-rise near the UN
A 21-year-old woman fell or jumped to her death from a luxury high-rise condo building near the United Nations Sunday night, police said. The woman’s body was found mangled on the pavement in front of 100 United Nations Plaza on the corner of E. 48th St. and First Ave. around 11:40 p.m., police and witnesses said. The woman died at the scene, her body draped with a white sheet, witnesses said. Her pocketbook was lying a few feet from her body. It was unclear if the woman, whose name was not immediately released, had jumped or fallen from the building, police said. Read More: Daily News
Off-duty cop kills mugger in Brooklyn
An off-duty police detective shot a 17-year-old mugger dead in Brooklyn Sunday after the youth attacked him with a cane, authorities said. The dead teen’s 15-year-old accomplice fled the scene but was later arrested, cops said. Police sources said Detective Benjamin Cintron, a 26-year veteran, appears to have used justifiable force in shooting Antoine White. The two teens tailed the 50-year-old detective for more than a block as he walked to the subway in Bushwick en route to his assignment at Brooklyn North Nightwatch. Read More: Daily News
Giants leave for Indianapolis
The last of four Giants buses rolled out of the Timex Performance Center at 12:16 this afternoon, escorted by two New Jersey State trooper sedans. On the final of four buses were Tom Coughlin and Eli Manning, like all the Giants, dressed for Super success in suits and ties. The team flight was due to land in Indianapolis later this afternoon as the Giants begin the final six days of preparation for Super Bowl XLVI, the rematch against New England. Unlike the Patriots raucous pep rally sendoff this was a much more subdued show. At the Sunday departure for the Patriots, Tom Brady told 25,000 delirious fans at Gillette Stadium to join him for a Super Bowl after-party saying, “Hopefully we’ll have a lot more people at our party next week.’’ Read More: New York Post
June re-trial set for city Councilman Larry Seabrook
It could be a long, hot summer for embattled city Councilman Larry Seabrook. A judge has set June 19 for the start of the Bronx Democrat’s re-trial on corruption charges. Seabrook avoided conviction last year when jurors were unable to decide any of 12 counts against the career pol, who’s charged with crimes that include steering more than $600,000 in “slush” funds to his mistress and relatives. Manhattan federal Judge Deborah Batts also ordered prosecutors to disclose by May 22 which “accomplice witnesses” they intend to call to the stand. Seabrook’s former mistress, Gloria Jones-Grant, got immunity to testify against Seabrook, but once in court recanted allegations that she paid him cash kickbacks. Read More: New York Post
NY Archdiocese employee accused of swiping over $1M
A 67-year-old Bronx woman who worked as an accounts payable clerk was busted today after authorities accused her of embezzling more than $1 million from the Archdiocese of New York. Anita Collins worked in the Archdiocese’s Manhattan headquarters and never informed her bosses that she’d been previously convicted of grand larceny in another case in 1999 when she worked for a temp agency. MTV rapper in Bronx gun bust
An MTV reality-star rapper lived up to his name in The Bronx over the weekend. Cops busted 24-year-old Peter Cory Pankey — a k a Cory Gunz, star of the reality show “Son of a Gun’’ — for allegedly packing a loaded handgun, officials said yesterday. Pankey was arrested after officers rushed to the corner of Boynton and Westchester avenues on Saturday afternoon when a 911 caller reported two men fighting. The brawlers fled, and officers canvassed the neighborhood looking for men who fit witness descriptions. Police came upon one of them — Pankey — and found a loaded, 9mm semiautomatic Taurus on him, law-enforcement sources said. The gun allegedly was unlicensed. Read More: New York Post
