Kids say mom ‘left us’ on the street: prosecutors
“Mommy left us here.” That was the desperate message two Brooklyn girls told police after their mom allegedly abandoned them on the street, prosecutors said today. Dalisha Adams, 26, was busted at 11:24 p.m. Sunday after cops matched the girls’ identities with photo records from ACS, police said. Adams was arraigned today in Brooklyn Supreme Court and ordered held on $2,500 cash bail. The girls were found bundled up for the weather and were clutching several clean diapers. [Video] Police Search for Astoria Armed Robbery Suspects
Police are searching for two suspects wanted in connection for an Astoria armed robbery. The suspects entered a Steinway Street business on Tuesday, January 17 armed with a handgun and demanded money, according to police. In the surveillance video, you can see one suspect is wielding bolt cutters, while the other is holding what appears to be a gun as employees lie on the floor. Police described the first suspect as approximately 35 years old, 5-feet-10-inches tall and 190 pounds. Commissioner bans cops from wearing NYPD gear without prior approval
NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly has ordered all cops to stop wearing clothes emblazoned with the department logo or shield unless it’s part of their uniform or they get prior approval first, a law-enforcement source told The Post. The source said Kelly’s order, issued Jan. 19, says all officers are “prohibited” from “wearing any item of apparel which contains a department logo or shield or in any way identifies wearer with the New York City Police Department unless approved by the Uniform and Equipment Review Committee prior to being worn by a member of the service, uniformed or civilian, on or off duty.” Read More: New York Post
Co-ed death plunge
A 22-year-old Columbia University graduate student distraught over breaking up with her boyfriend plunged to her death from his 16th-floor balcony at a luxury East Side building, police said yesterday. Earlier on Sunday, Samantha Kwek had texted her boyfriend, Benjamin Small, saying that she had taken OxyContin and that she wanted to come over to his apartment at 100 United Nations Plaza, police sources said. There was an argument and she said words to the effect that she couldn’t live without him, the sources said. Then she went out to the balcony and jumped at around 11:40 p.m., the sources said. 2 crushed by thrown shop cart
A feud between rival livery-car drivers turned bloody yesterday when a thug sent a shopping cart flying off a mall garage near Yankee Stadium onto two men standing below. It was the city’s second gruesome shopping cart attack in three months. Sagne Ibrahima, 30, and Camara Lounceny, 52, both of The Bronx, were standing near the Home Depot on the Gateway Center mall’s ground floor at 5:28 p.m. when the cart plummeted from the third story, striking both in the head, cops said. Sources said an hour before the attack, several Dominican drivers were arguing over turf with rival drivers, described as African immigrants, when security guards broke it up and sent both groups packing. Police Investigate Deadly FDR Crash
An upstate man is dead following a multiple car crash on the FDR Drive early this morning. Police say several cars were involved in the fatal smash up on the northbound side of the FDR near 61st Street just after 2 a.m. The 31-year-old victim from Syracuse was a passenger in one of the cars. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. Debris was strewn across three lanes of the highway. It’s unclear what caused the crash. Read More: NY1
