An MTA cop was stabbed in the eye this morning at the Jamaica LIRR station, it has been reported, and the officer’s reporter was killed during the altercation.

The MTA officer, identified as John Barnett, suffered a serious wound to his left eye but he’s expected to survive, MTA Chairperson and CEO Joseph Lhota told The Post.

The incident occurred at about 9:30 this morning outside the station near Sutphin Boulevard and Jamaica Avenue, authorities told the newspaper.

Although the attacker, identified as Edgar Owens, had stabbed Barnett in the eye, the cop was still able to shoot Owens, who later died at Jamaica Hospital, The Post reported.

Owens approached and attacked Barnett without any provocation, Lhota told the newspaper.
