Livery cab driver wanted for attempted rape in Astoria

The NYPD is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect who is wanted in connection with an attempted rape in Astoria.

On Friday, July 13, at 1:35 a.m., the victim, a 20-year-old woman, exited a livery cab and entered the vestibule area of an apartment building near 30th Street and 34th Avenue, said police. The cab driver followed her into her building  grabbed her from behind and attempted to rape her.  She managed to break free before the suspect fled in his vehicle. The victim was taken to an area hospital for minor injuries.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic, 20 to 25 years old, 5 foot 4 inches tall and 150 pounds.  He was last seen wearing a black shirt with dark pants and frameless eye glasses. The suspect’s vehicle is described as a light colored Lincoln Town Car.
