Tougher laws against animal abuse

The recent news stories about animals being mistreated by people is really very upsetting. How could anybody throw an innocent puppy out of a moving car, or tie up dogs on railroad tracks? While the puppy was rescued, and one of the three dogs survived being hit by the train, there is no logical reason at all for these cruel acts to be inflicted upon these poor, innocent animals.

It is high time that very tough laws for cruelty to animals be enacted by our local, state and federal governments. Animals need our help and protection from those people who would do harm to them. These heartless and cruel people need to be punished and prosecuted to the fullest extent of what our laws will allow for such criminal acts.
