Cops are looking for a suspect they say is a car thief who pointed a gun at police and attempted to mow them down, it was reported.

Police opened fire on the suspect and chased the man, who was reportedly driving a stolen SUV. The suspect had convinced staffers at a Ridgewood repair shop that he was the owner of the SUV, police told DNAinfo. Workers called the police when they realized the man had lied to them. Police said they were able to track the SUV when the suspect produced a weapon and tried to run them over. The suspect fled, police said, and cops fired at him.
