Former Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion officially kicked off  his run for mayor on Tuesday.

Carrion, who served two terms as the borough president, made the announcement at the Bronx Museum of Arts.

Running as a third-party candidate, the ex-Democrat already has the backing  of the Independence Party.

“I understand that people often feel disconnected from their government. I’m running as an independent voice because I believe, like so many New Yorkers, that our great city isn’t made up of just Democrats and Republicans. It’s made up of people – people of all backgrounds and beliefs, who work hard and expect results from their leadership,”  Carrion says in a message on his campaign website.

Carrion previously worked for the Obama administration as the Housing and Urban Development Regional Director for New York and New Jersey.
