Business Startup! Competition In Qns.

The Queens Economic Development Corporation (QEDC) has announced its nine finalists in the seventhannual “Queens StartUP! Business Plan Competition,” a five-month challenge and instruction course sponsored in part by Citigroup. From this pool of nine finalists- ranging in the categories of food, innovation and community development-judges will choose three winners and award each of them $10,000. The winners will be announced at the Queens Taste 2013 festival at Citi Field’s Caesars Club on May 14. The finalists, announced at a Flushing Town Hall event last Thursday, Apr. 4, include Himalayan Couture, Fabulous Fitness NYC and Magda Care Training Services (community development); Gooey & Co. bakery, Astoria Coffee and Take a Break & I’ll Bake bakery (food); and MD Consulting, Return on Change and the Law Office of Renee M. Simpson (innovation). Representatives of the nine firms are shown on stage along with QEDC Executive Director Seth Bornstein.
