Cops seek Astoria jewelry store thief

Police are trying to track down a thief who took off with jewelry from an Astoria store last week.

The suspect entered a Zales Jewelers at 31-07 Steinway Street at 7 p.m. on Wednesday and asked to look at two gold items at the store, according to the NYPD. When he was handed the jewelry he fled the store on foot.

Authorities describe the suspect as a black male in his 20s who was last seen wearing black work boots and a dark green waist length jacket.
