Remember parade’s real reason

Memorial Day is a time to honor those brave men and woman who gave their lives for our nation in past wars.  It is also a day to thank the people who serve in our various armed forces today defending our freedom and liberty.

At the Little Neck-Douglaston Memorial Day parade, it was disappointing to see so many elected officials marching ahead of our brave veterans and community volunteers.  Even worse, Senator Charles Schumer had a large megaphone in hand, appearing to work the crowd in political campaign mode. This was a day to honor our veterans, not pander for votes.
