Pancake lovers came together in Queens to celebrate the 10th anniversary of National Pancake Day by feasting on free stacks of their favorite breakfast food at their local IHOP.

The giveaway was started by the national restaurant chain in 2006 and not only honors the classic morning staple but also aims to help a cause.

Anyone who dines at IHOP from 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Tuesday will receive one free short stack (three buttermilk pancakes). Diners are also encouraged to make a donation during National Pancake Day to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals or another designated local charity.

In the last decade, IHOP has raised almost $16 million to support charities in its local communities, according to the company. This year’s goal is to raise $3.5 million.

Although the snow began falling by Tuesday afternoon, dozens of Queens residents braved the weather to get their hands on a free stack of golden, fluffy pancakes.

“Pancakes are life,” said Julian Rodriguez, from Whitestone, who had to wait in line for 30 minutes to get his name on a list and then had to go back outside to anticipate hearing his name be called over the speaker.

Rodriguez traveled to the IHOP located at 155-17 Northern Blvd. with a group of four fellow team members from the Bayside High School baseball team.

“We’re here to warm up the old arm with pancakes,” said 17-year-old Kyle Kravitz, from Bayside, who drove the group to the IHOP.

A manager at the Flushing IHOP held one of the front doors closed because there was “no more room inside for people.”

Queens residents looking to eat free flapjacks on Tuesday can find them at these other following locations in the borough:

  • 73-01 Northern Blvd., Jackson Heights
  • 170-19 Hillside Ave., Jamaica
  • 98-01 Liberty Ave., Ozone Park
