A bicyclist was killed Thursday evening after he struck the side view mirror of a U-Haul truck in Far Rockaway, authorities said.

The 61-year-old bike rider was traveling on Bayport Place, in the opposite direction of the one-way street, about 7:20 p.m. when he made a right turn onto Augustina Avenue and struck the driver’s side mirror of a Ford U-Haul truck that was at a stop sign.

EMS transported the victims, whose was pending family notification, to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The vehicle remained on the scene. There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
