Man wanted for stealing a collection box from Forest Hills synagogue

The NYPD is asking for the public’s assistance in locating and identifying a man wanted for breaking into a Forest Hills synagogue on Monday.

The man removed a collection box containing approximately $300 from the Beth Gavriel Synagogue at 66-35 108th St. on Sept. 21, according to police. He was able to enter the house of worship from an unlocked back door at around 12:40 a.m, and fled to parts unknown after the theft.

Officers from the 112th Precinct responded to calls about the break-in.

The suspect is described as a partially bald white male with a beard. He is believed to be approximately 46-years-old and was last seen wearing a black t-shirt with white lettering on the front of the shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers.
