As if the Queens Library wasn’t cool enough already, this quartet of November’s happenings has something to satisfy everyone.

1. Author talk with David Ebershoff, award-winning novelist of “The Danish Girl”

FREE! David Ebershoff’s books have been translated into 20 languages to critical acclaim. His debut novel, “The Danish Girl,” won the 2000 Lambda Literary Award for transgender fiction and has been adapted into a major motion picture starring Academy Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne. His most recent novel, “The 19th Wife,” is a New York Times bestseller, which was made into a television movie that has aired around the globe.  A Q&A session will follow the talk. Copies of “The Danish Girl” will also be available for sale.

3. A Saturday Afternoon with Lauren Elder, Cabaret and Broadway Singer

Love Broadway but can’t afford the cost of a ticket? The Queens Library is offering The Great White Way FREE! Lauren Elder is an honest-to-goodness Broadway and television actress, singer-songwriter and whistler who has appeared in “Boardwalk Empire,” “Louie” and “Law & Order SVU and in the Broadway revival of “Side Show,” as well as the Broadway and West End revivals of “Hair.” She performs regularly at Feinstein’s 54 Below, Joe’s Pub at the Public, Birdland and other A-list Manhattan venues, blending her own original songs with folk, jazz and pop influences and the sweet sounds of the ukulele to create her own unique sound.

4. Queens Library presents Jelani Cobb

An evening of frank conversation with author/professor Jelani Cobb on the history of migration and civil rights in Queens and how it has played out in one of the most diverse boroughs in the nation. He will trace today’s headline-grabbing racial issues back to the role of a local high school. Please feel welcome to join this stimulating discussion as a stand-alone guest or continue the conversation at the cash bar and/or excellent tables, before or after, at one of LIC’s best venues. $10 admission.
