No good deed goes unpunished.

Police released a video Tuesday night of a gunman who recently shot and seriously injured a man who tried to break up a dispute between the suspect and a woman on an Elmhurst street.

Authorities said the shooting occurred at 4:40 a.m. on Nov. 16 in the area of Roosevelt Avenue and Elbertson Street.

According to police, the gunman and unidentified female got into an argument at the location when the victim intervened. As the victim walked away, the perpetrator pulled out a gun and fired several shots, striking the man multiple times in his back.

The gunman, along with two persons of interest, fled the scene in an unknown direction, authorities said. Their images were caught on tape by a nearby surveillance camera.

Officers from the 110th Precinct and EMS units responded to the incident. Paramedics took the victim to Elmhurst Hospital, where he remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition.

Police describe the gunman as a Hispanic male standing 5 foot 8 inches tall, weighing 170 pounds and having close cropped hair; he was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS, visit their website or send a text message to 274637 (CRIMES), then enter TIP577. All calls and messages are kept confidential.
