Detectives are investigating a deadly accident on the Grand Central Parkway in Astoria early Friday morning that took the lives of two men, including a Ridgewood resident.

The crash occurred at 2:42 a.m. on the parkway’s eastbound lanes near 31st Street, a short distance from the Robert F. Kennedy (Triborough) Bridge.

According to police, Eran Felices, 32, of Woodward Avenue in Ridgewood was behind the wheel of a black Hyundai Elantra traveling eastbound on the parkway at a high speed when it smashed into the rear of a white tractor-trailer stopped on the right shoulder near the 31st Street overpass.

The truck driver, a 35-year-old male, was not injured in the crash and remained at the scene.

Officers from the 114th Precinct and EMS units responded to the accident. Both Felices and a passenger — David Garcia, 36, of East 112th Street in Manhattan — were pronounced dead.

An investigation is ongoing.
