Man wanted for striking two women during LIC robbery

Police are looking for a man who attacked two women with blows to the head after a recent unsuccessful robbery in Long Island City.

The two victims — ages 37 and 22 — were walking on 40th Avenue and Ninth Street at approximately 6 a.m. on Oct. 28 when they were approached by a suspect who demanded their bags and money, authorities said.

According to the NYPD, the suspect struck both women in the head with an unknown object after they refused his request, causing a laceration to their foreheads. He fled on foot empty-handed.

Officers from the 114th Precinct responded to the incident; the victims were not hospitalized.

The suspect is described as a black male who was last seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt, pants and sneakers.
