Queens Borough President Melinda Katz and the Queens Borough Board will listen to requests for funding in the 2017 New York City capital budget in a public hearing this Monday.

The hearing is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. at Borough Hall, located at 120-55 Queens Blvd. in Kew Gardens.

City officials, local organizations and others will present to the board, which is chaired by Katz and comprised of Queens City Council members and the chairperson of each community board.

According to the borough president’s office, the purpose of the hearing is to get input from community boards, residents and stakeholders on proposals contained in Mayor Bill de Blasio’s preliminary budget for 2017. This input will be used to determine the Queens Borough Board’s budget priorities for the upcoming fiscal year.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend the hearing to testify on requests, with a 3-minute time limit for each speaker

Anyone wishing to speak should secure a speaking slot beforehand by registering online.

If unable to attend the meeting, interested parties can also email a written testimony to budget@queensbp.org until Jan. 25.
