Jamaica man dies after setting himself on fire

A 50 year-old man died after setting himself on fire in Jamaica Friday night, according to authorities.

Firefighters found him outside an apartment building 172-41 90th Ave. shortly after 9 p.m.

“There wasn’t a lot we could do at that point,” a fire department source said.

Officers from the 103rd Precinct and EMS arrived shortly after and he was pronounced dead. Preliminary investigation found that he set himself ablaze in the alley of the residence.

There is no criminality suspected.

According to a Daily News report, family members at the scene identified him as Guyanese immigrant Sunildatt Seudatt and said he had recently been depressed.
