A 22-year-old man was shot in the leg after bullets were fired during a dispute outside a St. Albans nightclub early on Thursday morning, according to police.

The trouble began at about 4:27 a.m. inside the Elite Lounge located at 127-21 Merrick Blvd. Authorities said the victim was caught in the middle of a large fight that broke out among patrons and spilled out into the street.

Gunfire erupted moments later at the corner of Merrick Boulevard and Anderson Road, where the victim was shot in the right leg. The gunman responsible for the shooting– whom police described as a black male– was observed fleeing inside a silver vehicle.

Officers from the 113th Precinct and EMS units responded to the incident. Paramedics rushed the victim to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition with injuries not considered life-threatening.

The investigation is ongoing.
