Officers in the 114th Precinct rescued a furry friend that had been stuck on an Astoria rooftop for six days.

The cat was found on the roof of a home on 23rd Street on Tuesday morning, according to the precinct’s Twitter account. Captain Peter Fortune, the commanding officer, tweeted a picture of the three officers in charge of the heroic rescue.

“Po Sayan, PO Cascio, and PO Scocca rescued a stuck kitty on roof for days on 23ST  today!! ,” the tweet said.

According to several Facebook posts by Tracy Levine, who takes care of several feral cats in the neighborhood, the cat had been on the roof for six days. The cat, nicknamed Hunka Munka, was trapped on top of three buildings that had been damaged in a two-alarm fire earlier this month near 31st Avenue.

She previously tried calling the 114th Precinct and the FDNY, who told her they could not help. But several officers placed a cat trap with food on the roof and were able to safely remove Hunka Munka from the roof this morning.

“I’m so tired but so happy,” Levine said on Facebook. “Can’t stop smiling, the sun is shining and it’s warm. Hunka Munka did great at the vet and my faith in humanity has been restored.”

It’s not the first time Queens officers have rescued four-legged friends. In February, cops from the 114th Precinct in Bayside spotted a yellow Labrador wandering around the street on a rainy day. The officers knocked on the doors of nearby houses and were told where to find the owner.
