Police want the public’s help in finding the armed bandit who roughed up and robbed an 87-year-old woman on a Ridgewood street earlier this week.

At noon on Wednesday, March 23, authorities said, the suspect– described as a black male between 40 and 50 years of age and standing between 5 foot 5 inches and 5 foot 8 inches tall– approached the victim who was walking in the vicinity of Cypress Hills Street and Shaler Avenue near the Ridgewood/Glendale border.

Police said the crook pushed the woman to her ground, then displayed a firearm, removed her grocery bags and fled the scene.

Officers from the 104th Precinct responded to the scene. The victim was not seriously injured.

The bandit was last seen wearing a red jacket and a dark baseball cap.
