Teenager who tried to rape woman in Ridgewood remains at large, cops say

Police released security camera footage on Monday of a man wanted for trying to rape a 26-year-old woman in Ridgewood earlier this month.

According to authorities, the attack occurred at 3 a.m. on May 8 in the area of Seneca Avenue and Harman Street.

Law enforcement sources said the perpetrator — described as a black or Hispanic male in his teens with a slim build and wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt, camouflage shorts and black sneakers — followed the woman to the location. He then threw her to the ground and attempted to rape her.

Police said the victim managed to fight off her attacker, who fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The case was reported to the 104th Precinct; the victim was not seriously injured.
