Today is the final day to cast your vote for the name of the beautiful corner garden created by Ridgewood resident George Negoescu.

Last week Negoescu reached out to the community to help name the garden because he truly wants it to be a community space.

“We will choose a name together,” he said. “It will be better to be a little more organized.”

Now the community has another way to give back to the man who selflessly created a community space.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to allow members of the community to donate to Negoescu for the garden’s upkeep, and so he can recuperate some of the money he put into the project.

Negoescu began working on the garden at the corner of Cypress Hills Street and Shaler Avenue in November 2015, transforming the former eyesore into a flourishing community garden. Since that time Negoescu has spent many hours and nearly $5,000 of his own money to create the garden.

All donations will go to the upkeep of the garden in the coming months, as well as paying someone to maintain and clean the garden while Negoescu is away during the summer.

To make a donation, visit the GoFundMe page, and to cast your vote for the name you would like to see at the garden, just vote in the poll at the bottom of the page.
