A motorcyclist was pronounced dead on Monday night after colliding into a Toyota minivan in Rosedale, police reported.

At 9:18 p.m. on June 20, officers from the 105th Precinct responded to an emergency call of a motor vehicle accident on Rockaway Boulevard at Brookville Boulevard. There, they found a 57-year-old male motorcyclist lying on the roadway unconscious and unresponsive.

EMS transported the man to St. John’s Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. His identity was withheld pending family notification.

According to police, a 2009 Toyota Sienna minivan was traveling westbound on Rockaway Boulevard in the left turning lane when it attempted to make a left turn heading southbound onto Brookville Boulevard.

After getting the green light, police said, the van began to make its turn into the path of a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle that was traveling eastbound on Rockaway Boulevard, and also had the green light. The motorcycle struck the minivan’s passenger side rear door.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
