A 22-year-old male driver was pronounced dead at the scene of a car crash in Whitestone.

A young man was pronounced dead on Wednesday night after losing control over his car and crashing on the Cross Island Parkway in Whitestone.

Officers from the 109th Precinct responded to the emergency call of a car crashing on the southbound lanes of the parkway between the Utopia Parkway and Clearview Expressway exits at about 11:45 p.m. on June 29.

Paramedics also arrived and found an unconscious and unresponsive 22-year-old Ros Djonbalaj, who was pronounced dead on the scene.

A 20-year-old male passenger suffered minor injuries and was transferred to Flushing Hospital in stable condition.

According to police, the 22-year-old driver was speeding in a 2010 Mercedes Benz E63 AMG in the southbound lanes of Cross Island Parkway. He attempted to switch lanes from the center lane to the left lane, striking the driver’s rear side of a 2007 Toyota Sienna.

The Mercedes then veered across three lanes of traffic before colliding with a guardrail on the west side of the roadway, according to authorities. The car then spun across the three lanes of traffic, smashing into a concrete barrier divider, and the driver was ejected from the car.

No arrests have been made. An investigation by the NYPD Collision Investigation Squad is ongoing.

Car and motorcycle accidents between the Whitestone Expressway and the CIP as a result of speeding and racing are far too common and well known. The noise impact to local residents who live along the CIP is also horrendous. I do not understand why a couple of police cars are not permanently assigned to this corridor to serve as a deterrent to speeding and racing. Wouldn't that be better than sending them to respond to tragic accidents?

@responsibleforyouractions. You obviously have some very strong feelings regarding this tragidy. However, I can't fathom why you would leave such a comment. He's a jerk? He's above the law? No one is prone to making bad decisions.Unfortunately, this mistake cost him his life. On another note, you're a disgusting excuse for a human being- this is a fact based on your vile commentary.

No! Just a jerk who thinks he is above the law by doing as he wishes and it cost him his life! Thankfully he killed himself due to HIS stupidity and not some innocent driver with children in the car going to school or shopping. He only hurt his friend and family, because he will never feel pain again. They are left to suffer!
