Pokemon Go, burglar in Whitestone and Queens home prices in 1995 make the top stories in Queens this week

It seems that Queens residents are feeling a sense of nostalgia for the good old days when a single-family home cost about $200,000.

We took a look at how much houses, co-ops and condos cost back in 1995 and the results are astonishing. It’s also not surprising that Queens is the borough with the most scheduled home foreclosures this year. Several neighborhoods have not recovered from the housing crisis in 2008 and higher prices are making it harder to keep up with payments.

A woman jumped to her death from an elevated train station in Astoria this week and a former NYPD Sergeant who lives in Astoria was arrested for making women sexually abuse their children and sending him photos of the abuse.

In lighter news, the Astoria Flea & Food returns this month with a large selection of 80 food and crafty item vendors.

  2. A woman threw herself off of a train platform in Astoria and fell to her death on the Grand Central Parkway.

  4. This former NYPD sergeant was charged for using dating sites to scout woman who would sexually abuse their children and provide him with pictures of their foul deeds.
  5. Five men operated an illegal sports betting racket inside a Bayside home. The 2 1/2 year investigation found that the men made a profit of about $750,000 a year.
  6. The Astoria Flea & Food will return to Kaufman Astoria Studios this month with 80 vendors.
  7. Craig Schwab has lived in Glendale for the last 50 years of his life and recently released a book of short stories chronicling his life in the neighborhood.
  8. A self-guided cemetery tour around Queens has angered some local residents who argue that the tour is disrespectful to the dead.
