A Fresh Meadows woman was found dead after an apparent homicide inside her home on Monday night, according to police.

Officers from the 107th Precinct discovered 61-year-old Huizhen Zhan inside her apartment on 65th Avenue near Parsons Boulevard at 7:15 p.m. on the night of Aug. 1. She was found lying face up on a bed in the basement, unconscious and unresponsive.

Paramedics pronounced her dead on the scene. Her body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner who determined the cause of her death as homicide.

According to Daily News, detectives observed superficial cuts to her head, arm and face, but the autopsy determined that it was a blow in the head that killed her. The outlet spoke with a police source who said the killer covered her face with a pillow, and then draped a sheet over the pillow.

An investigation is ongoing.
