A 46-year-old man allegedly slashed his 72-year-old mother in the throat, then apparently did the same to himself at a Bayside assisted living facility on Friday afternoon, police said.

Both are currently undergoing treatment at NewYork-Presbyterian/Queens hospital. The mother is listed in stable condition, while the son is listed in critical condition, law enforcement sources noted.

According to authorities, the incident occurred at 12:01 p.m. Friday inside the facility located off the intersection of 26th Avenue and 208th Street in the Bay Terrace section of the neighborhood.

A preliminary investigation concluded that the man attacked his mother as a result of a domestic incident, sources familiar with the investigation. He then turned the knife on himself.

The incident was witnessed by a 61-year-old female health care aide, who fled the room where it happened and sought assistance from a superintendent, who notified police.

Officers from the 109th Precinct and EMS units rushed to the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
