Ready or not, here it comes! The first day of school is right around the corner. Even though summer is almost over, don’t fret! From toddlers to adults, Queens Library has many programs that help mold and sharpen the minds of all ages! Take a look at some of the programs below and join in the fun!
PROGRAMS FOR KIDS:
Toddler Learning Center (TLC)
Available at 30 community libraries, TLC is open to young children aged 18 to 36 months old. TLC is led by an early learning professional, and over the course of five sessions, parents learn about nutrition, speech development, early literacy and parenting skills, while toddlers get an early start at becoming familiar with social environments.
Kick-Off to Kindergarten (K2K)
K2K is available to children ages 3 and 4. Over eight weeks, children learn a base knowledge to help them get ready for kindergarten, including the knowledge of letters and numbers as well as promoting at-home literacy and conflict analysis strategies for parents. Enrolled children and parents must attend every session.
STACKS is a free after-school program developed by Queens Library. Available to children aged 6 to 14, STACKS was created to help students enhance their learning experiences and build their social, emotional and academic skills through structured and unstructured activities. STACKS is available throughout the school year on Monday through Friday from 3 to 5:30 p.m., even during school holidays.
PROGRAMS FOR ADULTS:
The Adult Learners Program provides lifelong learning opportunities for adults to address the diverse and changing populations of Queens. This program covers a variety of different classes, including ESOL, High School Equivalency, Computer Literacy, Citizenship Preparation and Adult Basic Education.
If English isn’t your first language, Queens Library has you covered with their ESOL program. Learn how to speak English with a supportive community and learning professionals for free! Classes are available at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels and are available at various Queens Library locations.
