Would-be robber tries and fails to swipe cash from a bank in Astoria

Police are looking for a man who unsuccessfully tried to rob a Chase Bank in Astoria on Friday.

On Sept. 9 at approximately 4 p.m., a man entered the bank at 22-30 31st St. and passed a note to the teller demanding money. The teller refused to give the suspect money and he fled, police said. There were no reported injuries.

The suspect is described as Hispanic male in his mid 30s, approximately 5 feet, 10 inches and 180 pounds with a medium build, black hair and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a tan short-sleeved T-shirt, black pants and black shoes.
