Need a new bike helmet? Here’s your chance to pick one up at no charge.

The Department of Transportation is co-sponsoring a free bike helmet fitting and distribution event this Sunday, Oct. 2, in the gymnasium at P.S. 46 in Bayside. Assemblywoman Nily Rozic and Councilman Barry Grodenchik are also sponsoring the event.

Children and adults are both welcome to the event. DOT staff will be on site to conduct proper fittings and giveaways.

A parent or legal guardian must be present to sign a waiver for children under age 18, and adults over the age of 18 receiving a helmet must also sign a waiver.

All who wish to claim a helmet must be present for the fitting.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. P.S. 46 is located at 64-45 218th St. in Oakland Gardens.
