After the C-Town on Broadway in Astoria closed its doors in September 2015 as part of a plan to incorporate the store into a new mixed-use development, the owners have announced that it will re-open as a Food Emporium.

C-Town, located at 29-10 Broadway, will be one of several retail sites in a five-story development that will feature four floors of residential space. The commercial space will total 15,940 square feet, and 32 parking spaces will be provided to residents and shoppers.

The market-rate rental building will include 64 units, a lounge, gym, rooftop party room, outdoor workout space, exterior recreation areas and private terraces, according to the architect firm for the project, Aufgang Architects.

C-Town announced that it would temporarily close to allow for construction. On Sept. 29, the owners posted a flyer on their Facebook page announcing that the store would open as a Food Emporium in 2017, DNAInfo first reported.

The family that operated the C-Town for 30 years will also operate the Food Emporium, according to the sign.

The owner of the site, Joseph Friedman of Jestam Realty LLC, previously told QNS that “a new, beautiful, modern supermarket will be returning to this site.”

Friedman did not respond to requests for comment about the official opening date or specific details about the new supermarket.

A phone number listed on C-Town’s Facebook page is no longer in service.

According to the architect firm’s website, construction on the building should be completed in April 2017.
