Detectives have apprehended a Woodside man who allegedly robbed a woman in the neighborhood and threatened her with a hatchet last weekend.

Moises Fernandez, 42, of 64th Street is accused of robbing the 23-year-old woman in the vicinity of Woodside and Roosevelt avenues at 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 1.

 

According to police, Fernandez allegedly approached her from behind with a hatchet, dragged her to the ground, then took her purse. He then fled the scene northbound on 64th Street.

Officers from the 108th Precinct responded to the incident; the woman was not serious injured.

Following an investigation, Fernandez was arrested on Friday, Oct. 7, and charged with robbery, grand larceny and menacing.
