Put down your salad and make Friday your cheat day – it’s National Dessert Day.

When we were children, no matter how full we were at the end of dinner, we always managed to find room for dessert. Whether you love cake or just can’t say no to a freshly baked cookie, Oct. 14 is the day to treat yourself to your favorite dessert.

 

Check out these places in Queens to get a delicious dessert and celebrate throughout the borough.

1. Martha’s Country Bakery70-28 Austin St., Forest Hills/41-06 Bell Blvd., Bayside

Described as one of the best dessert places around, Martha’s Country Bakery provides their customers with classic baked goods that are baked in-house, guaranteeing freshness. 2. LaGuli Pastry Shop – 29-15 Ditmars Blvd., Astoria

Tucked away in a shopping center in the Jackson Heights Shopping Center is Cannelle Patisserie, and it’s a great place for cakes and tarts. With seasoned French pastry chef’s baking their desserts, you’ll be sent to France with every bite, even though you’ll still be in Queens.

Even vegans shouldn’t have to miss out on ice cream. In addition to traditional ice cream, Sweet Janes offers dairy-free options for vegans and dairy allergy sufferers alike. All of their ices, sorbets, and ice creams are made on the premises.
