Police released on Thursday morning an image of a man who tried to lure a young girl away from her residence in Elmhurst two weeks ago.

The incident occurred at 6:15 a.m. on the morning of Oct. 6 in the vicinity of 81st Street and 41st Avenue, a short distance from Elmhurst Hospital.

According to authorities, the 13-year-old girl was waiting for a school bus in the lobby of the apartment house when the unidentified male suspect approached her. He began speaking to her and tried to lure her away from the building.

When her school bus arrived, police said, the girl ran to it and boarded; the male fled the scene in an unknown direction. The incident was later reported to the 110th Precinct.

Law enforcement agents described the suspect as a Hispanic male between 25 and 30 years of age, standing 5 foot 8 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds. He was last observed wearing a black jacket with white stripes down both sleeves.

Anyone with information regarding the incident or the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS, visit their website or send a text message to 274637 (CRIMES), then enter TIP577. All calls and messages are kept confidential.
