Police need the public’s help in finding a purse snatcher who robbed an elderly woman in Forest Hills recently.

On Oct. 23 at 6:45 p.m., the man approached an 85-year-old woman from behind near 72nd Road. He snatched her purse, which caused her to fall to the ground.

 

The woman suffered from a laceration to her left ankle but refused medical treatment, police said. The theft was reported to the 112th Precinct.

The individual is described as a white male who was last seen wearing a light-colored hat, black jeans and a light-colored coat.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS or for Spanish 888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website or texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577. All calls and messages are kept confidential.
