It’s been an interesting week nationally and locally.

President-elect Donald Trump was chosen by America as the next leader, and this decision sparked several students from St. Francis Preparatory to make racially charged remarks at black and Latino people sitting on a public bus.

The students of St. Francis Preparatory were addressed by their principal and told that “all matters of disrespect will not be tolerated and going forward our deans will take immediate action.”

In Bayside, an apartment fire led police to discover more than 110 packages of marijuana and $172,423 dollars in cash at 1 Bay Club Dr. in the Bay Terrace.

The 111th Precinct, which covers Bayside, Douglaston and Little Neck, warned residents about an influx of car break-ins in the area. Deputy Inspector William McBride, commanding officer of the 111th Precinct, told residents to make sure that they lock their car doors and avoid leaving valuable items inside.

In good news, the King of Falafel food truck in Astoria will expand to Long Island City by the end of the month. Owner Freddy Zeideia announced that a food truck would be parked along the 59th Street Bridge.
